Testing with Project One Racing

This week I had the chance to test with Project One Racing, the multi-championship winning UK race team. It was an amazing experience and marked the first time I’ve got behind the wheel of a Rotax Inter kart, which in full tune maxed out at 72mph on the Bayford Meadows straight!

Over the course of five sessions on a closed track, I managed to bring my lap time down from a 53.1 in session 1 to a 50.1 in the final session. I was gutted not to crack 49s, but was still pretty happy with the 50.1, given it was my first time driving an Inter. The best thing is I learned a lot about getting the most of the kart at this level thanks to the 1-2-1 coaching from Jack at the @projectone_racinggroup team.

The Inters are far more delicate and pointy to drive and require a different approach to really maximise their potential, but I’m confident with a few more sessions I’d be able to get into the low-49s or better. I’m hooked now and can’t wait for my next chance to take to the track.
